TSU, GARB Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and Georgian Association of Regional Broadcasters (GARB) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on July 20. The Memorandum was signed by Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze and Director of Georgian Association of Regional Broadcasters, Natia Kuprashvili.

Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze said that the Memorandum signed between TSU and GARB envisages a lot of interesting programs, including TSU student internships, product placement and cooperation in many other directions that will be beneficial for the both sides. “TSU has very good and serious plans in connection with creation of a student television. We plan to make our products diverse. For this to happen, we need the assistance of Georgian Association of Regional Broadcasters in order to promote these products through those TV channels that are united in the Association. It will be very fruitful and mutually beneficial cooperation,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

“Our Association, which unites 21 regional televisions, has a multi-year cooperation with TSU. We have already had a very successful experience in student internships and media production. But this Memorandum envisages new, very important details. We will provide our airtime to everything that will be produced at TSU in a form of TV and radio products. It is a very valuable product for us and we think that it is very important for the university that its products will be placed on regional TV channels,” Director of Georgian Association of Regional Broadcasters, Natia Kuprashvili said.

Under the Memorandum, TSU students will be able to get involved and actively participate in the events planned by GARB; moreover, they will have access to necessary consultations and assistance. Students will have all necessary conditions for independent and creative work. They will get necessary support for implementing and organizing various projects and conferences. TV products provided by the university will be placed on TV channels of GARB member and partner organizations.
