Presentation of Academic Writing Project

On June 23, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted a presentation of Academic Writing Development Project. Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze; EWMI/PROLoG Chief of Party Giorgi Chkheidze; President’s Parliamentary Secretary Anna Dolidze, representatives of academic community and students attended the event.

The Academic Writing Development Project is a new priority direction of the Tbilisi State University and it aims at increasing academic writing standards among students. “Knowledge of academic writing standards is important for students, professors, scientists. Therefore, raising academic writing standards is very important. We welcome the authors, who express readiness to make a contribution to this activity,” TSU Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze said.

The first project of the direction – a textbook “Academic Writing in Law” by Anna Dolidze – was unveiled during the presentation. “TSU’s initiative to raise academic writing standards can only be welcomed. It will promote further development of research and science in Georgia, on the one hand, and approximate our education and academic areas to western education and academic areas, on the other. More young people will write and publish their works in European journals, participate in European educational programs,” Anna Dolidze said.

The textbook “Academic Writing in Law” has been prepared with the support of EWMI/PROLoG and it aims at presenting the key principles of academic writing in law to law students and lecturers. These principles are universal and they will promote the harmonization of Georgian students’ academic works with western university standards.
