Meeting with Guram Dochanashvili

“Each time I enter my native university, even when I was studying here and afterwards, it is my continuous relation, full of respect. It is the university, where Ivane Javakhishvili used to remove his hat upon entering,” Guram Dochanashvili said at a meeting held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on May 5. The meeting was organized by the School of Young Humanists at TSU Junior.

Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze; Dean of the Faculty of Humanities, Nana Gaprindashvili; students of TSU and TSU Junior, public representatives attended the event. Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze said that Guram Dochanashvili takes a special place not only among TSU alumni, but also in Georgian literature. “Guram Dochanashvili is a phenomenon, a world level writer. TSU has established a very good tradition of inviting our alumni and Guram Dochanashvili is the first writer, who was awarded the University Medal in this format,” the TSU Rector said.

Rector Sharvashidze awarded the Medal of the Tbilisi State University to Georgian writer and public figure, Guram Dochanashvili for his huge contribution to the Georgian nation and development of Georgian literature. “Kindness, love and huge support that I received today makes me happy and simultaneously imposes a huge responsibility on me. God, give me force to justify all expectations,” the writer said.
