“We have organized an exhibition “Cartographic Heritage of Ivane Javakhishvili” to mark Ivane Javakhishvili’s anniversary. This topic is less known not only to broad public, but also to scientific circles. Therefore, we tried to obtain all interesting materials, mostly maps, archival documents, photos and create new literature; we have exhibited memorabilia in order to acquaint the public with one more scientific direction researched by Ivane Javakhishvili during his whole life,” Deputy Director of TSU Museum, Davit Sartania said.

The exhibited items will enable the visitors to get acquainted with a less known sphere of Ivane Javakhishvili’s creative work - cartography. The exhibition has been organized by the TSU Museum, while the exhibited items have been obtained by the Ivane Javakhishvili Center; the latter also plans to use these materials and release an atlas. Out of the exhibited cartographic materials, seven maps have been created either by Ivane Javakhishvili or with his direct participation.
