Victor Kupradze’s 110th Anniversary Celebration at TSU

On November 4 the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University hosted the event dedicated to the 110th anniversary of a famous mathematician, academician Victor Kupradze. On the sideline of the event, the Victor Kupradze Auditorium was opened at TSU Building XI.

TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, professors from the Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences, representatives of the Georgian School of Mathematics, as well as Victor Kupradze’s family members attended the event.

TSU Rector, Vladimer Papava said: “A scientific conference was held in connection with the 110th anniversary of one of the distinguished rectors of the university, Victor Kupradze. Moreover, the university decided to grant his name to one of the auditoriums. From now on, the students will know that this auditorium, where they will have to attend lectures, has been granted the name of a famous Georgian mathematician. This will enable the students to familiarize themselves with the university’s history; they will know who their ancestors were. Simultaneously, they will have a feeling that the university will always appreciate those people, who have made a huge contribution to the university’s development.”

“On behalf of Victor Kupradze’s family, I want to thank the Tbilisi State University, the society of Georgian mathematicians for such respect. I deeply believe that the TSU School of Mathematics will restore that fame which we were so proud of,” Victor Kupradze’s grandson, Guram Kekelia said. The scientists read out their papers during the scientific conference dedicated to Victor Kupradze’s anniversary. A presentation of a scientific popular journal Mathematics was held in frames of the scientific session.
