14th Member of New Academic Council Elected

The Academic Council of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) elected its 14th member on May 18. Apolon Silagadze became the second representative of the Faculty of Humanities to the Academic Council.

During the runoff voting held on May 18 to reveal the second representative of the Faculty of Humanities to the Academic Council, Apolon Silagadze garnered 86 votes and his rival, Ketevan Khutsishvili – 64 votes.

13 new members of the Academic Council were elected during the first stage of elections held at TSU on May 11, among them Irma Kharshiladze, Irine Kurdadze (Faculty of Law), Nodar Belkania, Amiran Berdzenishvili (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences), Giorgi Gvedashvili, Omar Purtukhia (Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences), Tamar Abashidze, Rusudan Sanadze (Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences), Elguja Mekvabishvili, Marine Mindorashvili (Faculty of Economics and Business), Paata Imnadze, Nino Okribelashvili (Faculty of Medicine); Davit Gotsiridze (the Faculty of Humanities).

The new Academic Council of TSU took office on May 16, 2016.
