Presentation of the Book ‘Commentary on the Labor Code of Georgia’

Georgian translation of the English-language book “Commentary on the Labor Code of Georgia” was published in frames of cooperation between the Faculty of Law at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and the Political Science Jean Monnet Department of the Second University of Naples. Among the authors of the book there are 18 Italian and one British experts.
Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze; Italian Ambassador to Georgia, Antonio Enrico Bartoli, invited guests and students attended the presentation.  
Rector Sharvashidze said: “It is extremely rare when the commentaries on labor code are written by foreign scientists. It is a very good example of how our legislation can meet international standards. I suppose that our cooperation will further continue and we will have more opportunities to work with our British or Italian counterparts on those specific issues, which have already been implemented in this format.” He gave special thanks to Andrea Borroni, editor of the book.  
“I am extremely glad that these commentaries were written by Italian scientists, which were than translated into Georgian. It should be noted that these are not simply theoretical debates, but they represent the means for involving the public in the debates on labor rights that is so important for respecting labor rights. Effective labor code is a guarantee for attracting investments and establishing good business environment,” Italian Ambassador to Georgia, Antonio Enrico Bartoli said.
The book publication was dedicated to the 140th anniversary of Academician Ivane Javakhishvili. The translation was performed at the Contemporary Private Law Institute of the TSU Faculty of Law. The book was published with the financial support of the EU project “Promotion of the Public Defender’s Office of Georgia II.”
