New Distance Learning Course at TSU

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and McLain Association for Children (MAC) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on creation of a new distance learning course. The memorandum was signed by Vladimer Papava, Rector of TSU, and Jeremy Gaskill, Director of MAC.
TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava said: “The memorandum had been previously signed with McLain Association for Children, but it needs renewal. The memorandum opens up new opportunities for our students. Teachers of psychological direction will be retrained in order to work with children with disabilities mostly in the regions. Our doctoral students are also involved with this organization and they will become trainers.”
Jeremy Gaskill, Director of McLain Association for Children, said that partnership with the Tbilisi State University is a great honor for him. He noted that the course will be very helpful for the students from the Faculty of Psychology, though other students can also get involved.
“This course is very important for the university. A lot of other distance courses will be created by autumn mostly for the regions,” Shota Barbakadze, head of the TSU Distance Learning Center, said.
The memorandum aims to plan and implement joint projects directed to the development of distance learning at the university; in addition, it will help McLain Association for Children to develop its own activities through distance courses and make them more flexible. The university students will be able to take the course free of charge. Distance learning is a joint educational course implemented by the parties and a joint certificate will be granted upon its successful completion.
