Full Professor at the TSU Faculty of Law, Doctor of Juridical Science; Candidate of Juridical Science since 1980; Doctor of Juridical Science since 1994 when he was elected Deputy Director of the Institute of State and Law of the Georgian Academy of Sciences in the field of scientific work. In 1996 he was elected the Director of the same Institute. Former member of the Constitutional Court of Georgia; Deputy Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Georgia since 2001. He worked in the editorial board to prepare the Civil Code of Georgia; awarded with the Order of Honor for his contribution to the Juridical Sciences and education of young lawyers. He has published over 100 scholarly papers on the problems of Georgian legal history, modern civil law and constitutional control.
