Although gender balance is a concept often evoked today, in Georgia there is still a strict division of male and female duties and activities. Indeed, 86% of men and 72% of women are happy with their duties according to results of a study “Men and gender relations in Georgia”, carried out by the Institute of Social Studies and Analysis (ISSA) with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in 2013. The Project Supervisor, Professor Iago Kachkachishvili pointed out that the aim of the project was to learn women’s and men’s attitudes towards gender equality--their experience and engagement in domestic chores and social practices that require coexistence and shared experience with their spouse or partner.

The social marketing concept emerged in the 1970s and has developed over the decades into a popular subject in marketing. It is even called the “21st century’s philosophy of business management”. The key goal of social marketing is to focus on the solution of problems to social, ecological and public welfare issues, none of which were included in the “classic” goals of marketing. The concept envisages powerful social mechanisms to ensure the unity of interests of business and the public requirements for achieving consumer welfare.  The concept has grown in Georgia over the last two years.

The issue of justice for the Muslim Meskhetians who were deported from Georgia under Stalin’s regime remains a major political challenge for the Georgian state. The country needs political will to respond to this challenge, but also serious research to ensure that justice will be carried out. Ekaterine Pirtskhalava, Doctor of Psychology and Assistant Professor at  the Psychology Department of TSU’s Faculty of Social and Political Sciences, has been involved in this research for several years.

While traditional power systems based on technical progress provide many benefits, they have an extremely negative impact on the environment and have resulted in the current global climate change. The temperature will rise for the following decade, and though it might only be by 2 degrees it will cause drastic changes to natural processes on earth. Hence, the quest for non-traditional energy sources is extremely significant for the energy industry and the household sector.
