Georgia and Portugal: Friends on the Frontiers of Europe [conference] December 11, 2015

On Friday the 11th December, at 15:00, Frank Miller will present a conference at the TSU Camões - Portuguese Language Center (TSU, Building II, room 203) on the connections between Georgia and Portugal.

"While Georgia and Portugal might not seem to have much in common on the surface, there are more similarities than one would expect – including linguistic diversity. This presentation will have two parts. The first part will explore the more subtle commonalities between the two countries. The second will take advantage of the fact that there is linguistic variation in both Georgian and Portuguese to segue into a brief exposé on the various Portuguese dialects and accents."

Frank Miller studied at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C., and holds a B.A. in Portuguese and Linguistics and an M.S. in Linguistics. Frank has also lived in Lisbon, Portugal, and Tbilisi, Georgia, where he dedicated himself to the study of the local languages. Frank now works as a professional translator and interpreter and is a teacher of English as a foreign language with Teach and Learn with Georgia in Kazreti, Georgia.
