About Event


According to the decree (№ 49, dated 08.05.2019) of the General Director of the LLLP — Shota Rustaveli National Scientific Foundation, the combined project (entitled as: "European Security and Modern Constitutional State (example of Georgia)", №  MG-ISE-19-398) of the group of professors at Tbilisi State University, Faculty of Law and Tbilisi Open University has obtained funding. The combined event is being carried out under the supervision of the Principal Investigator - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lela Janashvili, Project Coordinator - Prof. Dr. Irakli Burduli, and Co-supervisor - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Giorgi Amilakhvari. The high-caliber foreign scientists who hold high academic and administrative positions in foreign higher education and research institutes will take part in the combined event. The event aims to integrate Georgian scientists into the international scientific community, to initiate and deepen cooperation, to promote scientific work, to attract new workforce and popularize the science, as well as involve practitioners into the scientific process which will add more significance to the outcomes of the event. According to the analysis of the main challenges on security, new knowledge will be acquired and the introduction of scientific innovations in each field. In addition, one of the main objectives of the event is the participation of all three levels of students. Depending on the interdisciplinary nature of the project, it will be interesting not only for law students but for students interested in humanitarian, socio-political and economic sciences. Student selection will be based on the criteria set by the Scientific Committee. Within the framework of the combined event, Global Security Issues will be discussed with the scope of important scientific innovations and challenges in the field that will be summarized at the final international conference.

In the frames of the project the seasonal school: "Main directions of European security, existing threats, and challenges" an international conference: "Answers to the Constitutional State Global Threats" will be held. Seasonal school, which includes training and practical components, will be held throughout 6 days (from 1st to 6th July), and will host 5 plenary along with the concluding, summarizing sections (34 hours):

1. Safety and the Contemporary Constitutional State;
2. European Law;
3. European Security Concept and its Elements;
4. Challenges of the Contemporary Constitutional State in terms of Globalization: Territorial Organization and Regional
Conflict; Protection of Human Rights;
5. Challenges of the Contemporary Constitutional State in terms of Globalization: Religious Freedom, Freedom of Speech, Protection of Human Rights;
6. Summarization, Outcomes, and Conclusions.

Within the practical module, school participants will visit different institutions - the Prosecutors Office, the Parliament, the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Upon the results of the seasonal school the international conference: “Answers to the Constitutional State Global Threats” will be held, which will be attended by well-known Georgian and foreign visiting lecturers of the seasonal school well-known in  the field, practitioners from the Prosecutors Office of Georgia, Ministry of Internal Affairs, from the Parliament of Georgia. The goal of the conference is to involve the wide range of society and all interested parties in the discussion on the new threats and effective mechanisms to combat them. Security should not restrict basic rights and freedoms. It is especially important for the protection of this principle for the new democracy. These and other topics will be discussed by the general and plenary speakers presented by the above-mentioned international and Georgian scholars. At the conference pre-selected student’s essays, written in the frames of the seasonal school, will be presented and the winner author(s) will be revealed, therefore awarded.

The high-caliber foreign scientists who hold high academic and administrative positions in foreign higher education and research institutes (Institute of Social and Political Sciences, Institute of European Studies, School of Security and Prevention, University La Coruña, Aldo Moro Bari University) will take part in the combined event. Research activities of the leaders of the research institutes are in full compliance with the main theme of the project. Their participation in the project will significantly increase the international awareness of the event. It will also enhance institutional and individual cooperation between Georgian and foreign educational institutions and scientists.
