TSU, GITA Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and Georgia’s Innovation and Technology Agency (GITA) signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on April 21 to form an innovation ecosystem at TSU. The memorandum was signed by Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze and Acting Chairman of GITA, Avtandil Kasradze.

Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze said that “innovations and looking towards the future is the credo that our university has had since the day of its foundation. The memorandum will promote project implementation, adjusting the system of knowledge transfer, academic project commercialization, student involvement in research activities, as well as appropriate use of intellectual resources.” 

“The memorandum will help introduce and promote innovations among the university students. Not only TSU has a great history, but it also is a great future for our country,” Acting Chairman of GITA, Avtandil Kasradze said.

The memorandum aims to create the university space for student startups in the direction of innovations and technology; to implement a pre-accelerator program in order to discover innovative business ideas among students and promote their development as startup companies; to hold business trainings, as well as intensive, short-term courses and workshops for students;  to discover students’ innovative business initiatives, etc.
