TSU, Peking University Sign Memorandum of Cooperation

The Faculty of Medicine of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University and the Peking University School of Public Health signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on June 19. The Memorandum was signed by Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze and Deputy Dean of the Peking University School of Public Health, Wang Zhifeng. The Memorandum envisages the mobility of students and academic staff within the framework of the TSU English-language MA degree program “Public Health,” as well as the opportunities for implementing joint research projects. The delegation of the Peking University School of Public Health familiarized itself with the educational programs implemented at the TSU Faculty of Medicine, as well as the system of practical studies.

“This is the first memorandum in the direction of medicine signed with one of the world’s strongest universities – Peking University. We are proud to have exchange programs and joint research projects in the sphere of public health and medicine and we suppose that in coming years we will have more students both in Georgia and in the Peking University,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

“This is my first visit to Georgia and to the Tbilisi State University. I am sure that this Memorandum will promote effective collaboration between our universities,” Wang Zhifeng noted.

Upon the initiative of the Peking University School of Public Health, representatives of the Public Health Department of the TSU Faculty of Medicine paid a working visit to the Peking University on April 8-12. The TSU delegation held meetings with representatives of the Global Health Department at the Peking University and presented papers on current health and education issues.
