Autumn Legend 2019 Awards Evening
On December 26, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted an Awards Evening, where the winners of student literary competition Autumn Legend were revealed. The jury members selected the authors of the best three stories with Tsotne Avsajanishvili winning the 1st prize – GEL 1000 and a competition symbol; the second and the third places were divided between Nino Bukia and Davit Kiladze, who received GEL 700 and GEL 500, respectively.
Vice Rector of TSU, Nino Okribelashvili said that “the Autumn Legend literary competition is of huge importance. It has been confirmed by the fact that all previous winners have become famous literary figures. 10 out of 300 contestants moved to the next round. I would like to congratulate them and wish them more success so that they meet the New Year with new ideas, healthy and what is most important, happy,” Nino Okribelashvili noted.
An improvisation round of a student literary competition Autumn Legend 2019 was held at House Museum of Alexander Chavchavadze in Tsinandali. The contestants were given 12 hours to create new stories on a topic selected by the jury. Tsotne Avsajanishvili took part in the competition for the third time this year. “Unlike previous years, I expected victory least of all. I am happy and wish the finalists success,” he said.
The student literary competition Autumn Legend – a joint project of TSU and the company Silknet - was launched in 2009. It aims at discovering talented young people and paving their ways for future success.
“The project has really fulfilled its function and it has been confirmed by the fact that it is the 11th year the competition is being held. The winners were revealed today. The finalists created interesting works. Three of them traditionally received prizes from Silknet,” Lika Metreveli, Silknet’s corporate communications manager, said.
Students from Georgia’s accredited higher educational institutions were participating in the competition, which was held in two rounds. About 300 contestants participated in the first round. The jury consisted of six members: writers Dato Turashvili, Teona Dolenjashvili, Maka Ldokonen, Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili, Zaal Chkheidze and last year’s winner, Tekla Eremeishvili.
“Like in previous years, the Autumn Legend was again especially interesting this year. Participation in this competition already means victory for any student who has decided to create a prosaic work. I think, we gave students interesting topics this year, because their stories were good. Let me congratulate the finalists and wish them to again participate in our competition with a student status,” writer Maka Ldokonen said.
The stories of finalists will be printed in a special collection and presented to the guests of the event as gifts.
