Conference “Higher Medical Education at the University – 100-year History of Foundation and Global Challenges”

A conference “Higher Medical Education at the University – 100-year History of Foundation and Global Challenges” was held at Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on December 18. The event was organized by the Faculty of Medicine.

The conference was dedicated to the 100th anniversary of TSU foundation and launch of higher medical education in Georgia. TSU academic staff and students, as well as representatives of various medical schools and invited guests attended the event.

Prof. Alexander Tsiskaridze, Vice Rector of TSU and Lasha Margishvili, head of the Quality Assurance Department at the National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement made welcome speeches at the conference. Professor David Gordon, President of the World Federation for Medical Education, as well as Georgian professors Dimitri Kordzaia, Nino Chikhladze and Vladimer Margvelashvili also addressed the audience.

By the end of the conference, Professor David Gordon, Academician Roman Shakarashvili, Academician Roin Metreveli, as well as Tbilisi State Medical University were awarded Honorary Certificates for their special contribution to the development of medical education.
