Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University is the only higher educational institution from the region that belongs to the top 2% of the worlds best universities, according to U.S. News & World Report – Best Global Universities Ranking 2019.

TSU is the only university from the region, which is represented in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings /THE as well as Shanghai Academic Ranking of World Universities. TSU is ranked 109th in QS Top University Ranking Eastern Europe and Central Asia, taking the lead among the Caucasus universities.

Georgia will be the first non-EU member state, where a regional Academia Europaea hub will be opened next year. The decision to open the hub at TSU was unanimously made by the members of the Board of Academia Europaea (AE) at an annual meeting in Barcelona. It is an unprecedented development - Academia Europaea made a decision to open its research representation in a non-EU member state. This decision will open up opportunities for a lot of young people to get involved in various European programs.

TSU is leading in the South Caucasus region by number of students, academic and administrative staffs (over 300), who will study and improve their skills at European universities within the framework of programs financed by ERASMUS+ International Credit Mobility /ICM/ in 2018-2020.

Over 100 foreign professors visited TSU over past years within exchange programs.

TSU’s active international relations enable students to participate in exchange programs not only in European, but also in leading Asian universities. Quite recently, TSU signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with the Teikyo University of Japan, envisaging exchange of students, professors and research teams between the two universities.

George Sharvashidze answered all questions put by TSU students during the Facebook Q&A session.
