TSU Professor Alexander Tsiskaridze Elected as Member of Academia Europaea

Alexander Tsiskaridze, Professor of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, has been elected as member of Academia Europaea.

Two more Georgian scientists – Prof. Merab Kokaia of Lund University and Prof. David Prangishvili of Pasteur Institute, who also is the director of Academia Europaea Tbilisi Regional Knowledge Hub, became members of Academia Europaea recently. Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the Georgian Prime Minister’s adviser, has been elected as an honorary member of Academia Europaea.

Academician of the Georgian National Academy of Sciences, Tamaz Gamkrelidze; Director of the Georgian National Museum, Davit Lortkipanidze; Professor Zaal Kokaia of Lund University, a visiting lecturer at TSU; Rector of TSU, George Sharvashidze also are members of Academia Europaea from Georgia.

Founded in 1988, the Academia Europaea is a European, non-governmental association acting as an Academy. Its members are scientists and scholars who collectively aim to promote learning, education and research.

Academia Europaea Tbilisi Regional Knowledge Hub was opened at TSU in April 2019 and it is Academia Europaea’s first and only branch in the EU non-member state.
