Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) and Adventure Tourism School signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on June 30. The Memorandum was signed by Rector of TSU, Giorgi Sharvashidze and Head of Adventure Tourism School, Archil Tsintsadze. Representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, National Tourism Administration, Millennium Challenge Corporation, Mountain Resorts Development Company, TSU students and professors attended the event.

Rector Giorgi Sharvashidze said that tourism, as a sphere, is developing rapidly in Georgia and the university welcomes all the novelties in tourism industry. “It is essential that vocational training and retraining is connected with the high school. It is our priority. Besides the fact that we are collaborating and also signed the Memorandum with Adventure Tourism School, we plan to launch cooperation at the level of BA and MA degree programs with our French colleagues; we will develop joint programs with Lumière University Lyon 2. It will be great if vocational education in the sphere of tourism turns into full university education,” Rector Sharvashidze said.

“This Memorandum is very important for our school, because the University is a strong structure and cooperation with it will enable us to further expand our activities. We are already working actively in Georgia’s mountain regions; we are also collaborating with international organizations, but the cooperation with TSU will take us to another level, because its educational centers, laboratories, experience already represent a new level,” Head of Adventure Tourism School, Archil Tsintsadze said.

Under the Memorandum, the parties will plan and implement joint projects and events, as well as joint educational programs.
