TSU – Child Science for Schoolchildren

Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted schoolchildren on September 19 in frames of Science and Innovation Festival. Pupils from various schools participated in imitated archaeological excavations and viewed interesting exhibits of the Museum of Zoology and Mineralogy. TSU students and professors carried out experiments for schoolchildren in chemistry, biology and physics. Students and professors from the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the TSU Faculty of Exact and Natural Sciences presented innovative projects.

During an Open Day event held by TSU Junior, Vice Rector of TSU, Nino Okribelashvili also participated in entertaining science together with schoolchildren, TSU students and professors. She said that entertaining science will promote the involvement of future generations in research and making of new discoveries. “Our purpose is to ensure that future generations show more interest towards research that will help them find themselves and their future professions. The today’s interesting event will encourage young people to link their fate to Tbilisi State University, to walk with us towards successes and what is most important, to have a very interesting student life,” Nino Okribelashvili said.

Elene Tsintsadze is a student of public school No. 161. She seems to have keen interest on chemistry. “I came to TSU to view exhibitions. Most of all, I liked chemistry corner, where experiments were carried out; it was very interesting, because I like experiments and I frequently carry out them at home,” she noted.

By the end of the event, Professor Tornike Kadeishvili, senior research fellow at Andrea Razmadze Mathematical Institute of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, delivered a lecture on a topic “Mathematics Everywhere.” TSU Professor Giorgi Dvalishvili talked to schoolchildren about the role of natural monuments in the development of tourism.
