Mission 2015 – Student Competition in Marketing and PR

Student competition in marketing and PR “Mission 2015” was launched at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on November 4. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, Director of Foreign Relations and Media Communications at TBC Bank, Tamar Kirvalidze and students attended the presentation of the competition.

TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said: “This project is already traditional for the university and is being held for the fifth time already. This year we selected TBC Bank as a partner. The aim of the competition is to make young people more active and help them work with various companies over their development plans. Our students show huge interest and therefore competition is high. I want to express gratitude to all the companies that are cooperating with the Tbilisi State University.”

“Today we are delighted to announce the launch of a new project – this is the first year of collaboration between TBC Bank and TSU. The project is very important for the youth in terms of revealing their capabilities. They are provided an opportunity to become virtual managers of the bank’s communications and marketing department. They will be given tasks and three winning teams will be able to implement their projects. In case of success, they will actually become real managers of these projects. Investing in education has long been a priority of TBC Bank,” Director of Foreign Relations and Media Communications at TBC Bank, Tamar Kirvalidze said.

TSU student competition in marketing and PR – Mission – is the university’s annual project, which is jointly implemented by the university and a successful Georgian brand. Each year a new Georgian brand participates in the competition and the contestants create new ideas for a new partner.

The goal of the competition is to promote the implementation and professional development of student ideas, to provide cooperation of winning students with partner companies and to increase future employment opportunities. The contestants are able to become the company’s virtual marketing and PR managers, to plan particular activities, to win in the competition, to obtain monetary awards and realize their ideas.
The competition is held in two stages: the participants of the first round fulfill the tasks offered by the university – this year the participants will have to develop the communication strategy of a bookstore network Scripta Manent - while in the second round the finalists will work on the tasks of a partner brand.

The prize money amounts to GEL 5000 and it will be awarded to three winners of the competition: 1st place – GEL 2500; 2nd place – GEL 1500 and 3rd place – GEL 1000.

This is already the fifth annual competition since its launch. During four years 200 teams from various faculties participated in the student competition. The companies IDS Borjomi Georgia, Geoplant, Natakhtari and Sante were the partners of the competition during the previous years.
