TSU Awards Honorary Doctorate to Prof. Peter Alken
A ceremony of awarding honorary doctorate to Prof. Peter Alken was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) on June 1. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, professors, students, representatives of the Georgian School of Urology attended the event.
TSU Rector, Vladimer Papava said: “The University has a tradition to award honorary doctorate to famous foreign scientists. Today we awarded this honorary title to a famous urologist, German scientist, Professor at the University of Heidelberg, Peter Alken for the promotion of Georgian urology and supporting the direction of urology at the Faculty of Medicine.”
“I have been cooperating with the Faculty of Medicine at TSU for a long time already. It is a great honor for me to become an honorary doctor of this university. We have implemented a lot of joint projects and I am going to continue close cooperation with TSU,” Prof. Peter Alken said.
Peter Alken is a representative of the school of academic urologists. He gives lectures at the universities of various countries. He has created a device Alken. A lot of modern methods of treatment were introduced in Georgia just with the support of Peter Alken. Honorary doctorate was awarded to Prof. Peter Alken by decision of the TSU Academic Council for his special contribution to the development of Georgian School of Urology and promoting its integration into the European School of Urology.
