Academician Janis Stradins Awarded Ivane Javakhishvili Medal

A solemn ceremony of awarding the Ivane Javakhishvili Medal to Janis Stradins, Academician of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, was held at the Academic Library of the University of Latvia on July 1, 2015.

On February 2, 2015 the Tbilisi State University made a decision to award the Ivane Javakhishvili Medal to Janis Stradins for his contribution to internationalization of Georgian scientists, including researchers from the Tbilisi State University, as well as the results of research activities. Professor Niko Javakhishvili from the Tbilisi State University specially arrived in Riga to attend the solemn ceremony. Georgian Ambassador to Latvia, Teimuraz Janjalia and his spouse also attended the event. Representatives of the University of Latvia, the Latvian Academy of Sciences, the Academic Library of the University of Latvia and Georgian Diaspora in Latvia also attended the ceremony.
