Evening of Poetry with Tariel Kharkhelauri
Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) hosted an evening of poetry with Tariel Kharkhelauri on December 23. The event was dedicated to the 70th anniversary of the poet. Along with TSU students, famous poets also read Tariel Kharkhelauri’s poems at the evening. Deputy Rector of TSU, Mikheil Chkhenkeli, professors, students and invited guests attended the event.
“At my age, I have gone through a lot of beautiful and painful days. But I feel especially happy when I enter the university. I feel here like in a temple. Today is one of the most amazing days I have spent at the university. If I remember anything good, everything is connected with this university,” Tariel Kharkhelauri said.
The event was held at the TSU Library. Head of the Library, Zurab Gaiparashvili said that the library has already hosted a lot of beautiful evenings of poetry. “The today’s evening is one of the most remarkable events. It should be noted that Tariel Kharkhelauri has graduated from the Tbilisi State University. Therefore, this day becomes even more important,” Zurab Gaiparashvili said.
The audience also listened to musical compositions created for Kharkhelauri’s poems. By the end of the event, the Deputy Rector of TSU presented gifts to the poet.
