Honorary Doctorate of Latvian Academy of Sciences Awarded to TSU Professor

The Latvian Academy of Sciences awarded an honorary doctorate in the field of history to Professor of the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University, Doctor of Historical Sciences, Nikoloz (Niko) Javakhishvili.

Honorary doctorate was awarded to Professor Javakhishvili for his scientific and pedagogical activities over the past five years, particularly for his monograph “Essays from the History of Georgian-Baltic Relations” and his lectures delivered at the scientific research and higher educational institutions of Latvia.

The decision on awarding honorary doctorate to TSU Professor Niko Javakhishvili was made by the Senate of the Latvian Academy of Sciences on June 10, 2014. The diploma award ceremony was held at the Latvian Academy of Sciences in Riga on September 16. Niko Javakhishvili is the youngest recipient of this degree.
President of the Latvian Academy of Sciences, Ojārs Spārītis; Chair of the Senate Jānis Stradiņš; Academician Jānis Stradiņš; Professor Niko Javakhishvili and Georgian Ambassador to Latvia, Teimuraz Janjalia delivered their welcome speeches during the solemn event.

TSU Professor Niko Javakhishvili is the author of over 100 scientific works in Georgian, Russian, English and German languages, with 15 books among them.
