TSU Awards Honorary Doctorate to Dr. Witold Brostow

A ceremony of awarding honorary doctorate to Dr. Witold Brostow, Regents Professor at the University of North Texas, Professor at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, President of the World Forum on Advanced Materials (POLYCHAR), Honorary Professor, was held at the Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University on June 29. TSU Rector, Academician Vladimer Papava, scientists, professors and students attended the event.

“Today is a very important day for our university, because we are awarding honorary doctorate to a very famous professor, Witold Brostow, who made a serious contribution to the development of chemistry. He has close contacts with our chemists; they have a lot of important joint publications; so, recognition of this person by our university and awarding honorary doctorate to him was quite logical,” TSU Rector Vladimer Papava said.

“This is an impulse to further strengthen and boost cooperation with Georgian scientists. I have been cooperating with the university and its representatives for years; TSU representatives worked with me at the laboratory of the University of North Texas and this cooperation was very fruitful,” Regents Professor Witold Brostow said.

Dr. Witold Brostow is a famous researcher in the field of chemistry and materials science. He is the founder and head of the Laboratory of Advanced Polymers and Optimized Materials (LAPOM) at the University of North Texas. He has been awarded an honorary doctorate degree (Dr. h.c.) from several universities. Dr. Brostow is a member of the European Academy; member of the Mexican Academy of Sciences; member of the Royal Society in Great Britain; President of the International Council on Materials Education; editor-in-chief of Journal of Materials Education; honorary member of the Georgian Chemical Society, etc. Dr. Witold Brostow is a co-editor of several highly ranked journals and member of editorial boards. He has published about 390 scientific papers in highly ranked academic journals.
