Europe Days 2018

Nikoloz Samkharadze, head of the Georgian Parliament Speaker’s Cabinet, as well as members of the European Parliament Georgia Friendship Group, including Clare Moody, Michael Gahler and Romain Strasser met with students of Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University in frames of Europe Days 2018.

Vice Rector of TSU, Alexander Tsiskaridze also took part in the meeting. He said that “students asked interesting questions and guests gave comprehensive answers to them. Similar meetings are yet another step towards the EU membership.”

Georgia’s foreign policy priorities, its European integration process as well as approaches and opinions existing in the European Union about Georgia’s European perspective were discussed at the meeting.

Clare Moody, a member of the EP Georgia Friendship Group, hailed the meeting with TSU students as “very fruitful” that provided a good opportunity for discussing the EU-Georgia relations.

Vazha Datuashvili, a law student, said that students received comprehensive answers to their questions. “The today’s meeting was important in the context of both the state and the university. We hosted important guests from the European Parliament. We, the students, expressed our views about the problems persisting in Georgia. I think that we received very important and correct answers from the guests and I hope that similar discussions will be held more frequently in future.”

The administrative council of the EP Georgia Friendship Group involves members from all main political groups of the European Parliament. The group aims at strengthening already existing links between the EU, the European Parliament and Georgia.
