Georgian Scientist Awarded Ivane Javakhishvili Medal

By decree of the TSU Academic Council, a famous Georgian scientist, Samson Shatashvili was awarded the Ivane Javakhishvili Medal on September 4 for his contribution to internationalization of the Tbilisi State University (TSU), involving promotion of TSU’s scientific potential abroad, facilitation of scientific and research activities between universities, development of the university’s scientific and educational processes, as well as development of scientific and practical skills among youth.

Upon the initiative of Samson Shatashvili, the Trinity College (Dublin) and TSU signed an agreement that will allow BA students from TSU to continue their studies in the directions of physics and mathematics at the Trinity College.

Samson Shatashvili is University Chair of Natural Philosophy (1847) at the Trinity College (Dublin); Director of the Hamilton Mathematics Institute (Dublin); Head of Israel Gelfand Chair at IHES (France); Professor at Simons Center for Geometry and Physics, Stony Brook University (USA).
