Concert by Oxford’s Jesus College Chapel Choir at TSU

On June 30, at 7pm, Ivane Javakhishvili Tbilisi State University (TSU) will host a concert by the Jesus College Chapel Choir (the University of Oxford). The choir consists of successful representatives of the academic community.  

Over the past eight years the Jesus College Chapel Choir has toured various countries of the world, singing out their hearts in a number of churches and basilicas, including the Basilica di Santa Croce in Florence and St. Martin’s Cathedral in Bratislava. In addition, the choir has also performed in Krakow, Lisbon, Cologne, Bonn, Vienna, Sienna, Hong Kong, Shanghai, etc. Each Sunday the choir performs in the historical Chapel of the Jesus College.

It should be noted that the choir is specialized in performing the Welsh music. Jesus College was founded in 1571 under the reign of Queen Elizabeth I. As part of its Georgian tour, the choir will hold concerts in Batumi and Kutaisi, and complete its tour with a concert at the Tbilisi State University.

At TSU, the choir will perform various compositions by Igor Stravinsky, Sergei Rachmaninoff, Anton Bruckner, Pyotr Tchaikovsky, Thomas Tallis, Orlando Gibbons, John Bennett and others.
